Ismael Sarah

Ismael Sarah is an associate specializing in tax planning and tax controversy. As the son of a small business owner, he genuinely enjoys helping businesses navigate intricate tax matters and ensuring that they remain in compliance with the IRS. Since joining the firm in 2022, Ismael has primarily assisted clients by evaluating and assessing complex tax law issues and conducting extensive research on these issues. His experience in tax planning includes helping businesses determine their eligibility for claiming federal tax credits, such as the Employee Retention Tax Credit. In an effort to expand his understanding of taxation matters, Ismael regularly attends some of the largest tax conferences in the United States, including both the National Institute on Criminal Tax Fraud & Tax Controversy and the NYU School of Professional Studies Tax Controversy Forum.

Despite finding his niche and establishing a career as a tax attorney, Ismael has experience in other areas of the law as well. During law school, Ismael worked as a law clerk for Mouledoux, Bland, Legrand & Brackett, LLC in New Orleans, which further enhanced his legal research and drafting skills. Prior to joining McGehee Law, Ismael also worked at LSU’s Parole Assistance and Re-entry Clinic, where he drafted personalized briefs in favor of his clients’ release from prison and represented these clients in front of the Louisiana Parole Board.
